The Megger OTS 60PB portable oil test set is a fully automatic oil test set that reduces the operator's tasks of preparing and loading the oil sample into the test chamber. It also saves the operator from initiating the required test sequence.

On completion, the mean breakdown value of tests in the sequence is given and the value for each individual test may be recalled. Standard deviation calculations are automatically carried out and displayed when specified by the test standard.

The Megger test equipment provides breakdown voltage test results on oils and liquids such as mineral, ester and silicon insulating liquids. Each test result is a measure of the oil's ability to withstand electrical stress and these results are both accurate and easily repeatable. A low breakdown voltage test result can indicate that there is water or other conductive particles in the fluid that is being tested.

This test set is controlled by a microprocessor and the maximum test voltage for this particular model is 60kV. Test sequences for many national and international standards are programmed into the test set memory and can be updated when new standards come in. This can be done by downloading the new standards from the Megger website and then installing them onto the Megger instrument with a USB stick. The Megger test equipment also has three USB interfaces that support USB flash drives, USB printers, barcode scanners and PC connections. In addition, if you require hard copies of your test results, then there is an option to use the Megger tester set as a built-in printer.

The parameters programmed into the test set include stand times, stir times, rate-of-rise of applied voltage and number of tests. A five-minute test sequence is available for rapid assessment of the condition of the oil sample.

Safety measures have been carefully crafted into the design of this Megger test equipment including and safety look on the chamber door. The set is designed with a redundant and independent high voltage cut-off circuit allowing for the instrument to shut down should there be any dangerous voltages. Any test can also be terminated and abandoned should the operator need to do so and this can be done by pressing any key on the keyboard. The transparent lid where the sample goes provides a further protective and electrical shield whilst still being able to look inside the testing chamber.
