The Megger XTL50 Extension Test Leads are convenient and
compact long test leads, designed for direct continuity measurement
of R2 values.
When working on a dead system, disconnect equipotential bonding
to eliminate parallel paths and connect one end of the lead to the
main Earth terminal at the distribution board. Connect the other end
of the lead to your continuity tester, and probe around the circuit CPC
points checking for continuity, and direct R2 measurements.
This compact 30 m or 50 m extension test lead eliminates the need
for crossover connections for R1 + R2 measurements by providing a
single R2 value. The furthest point in the circuit can be easily verified,
and every earth point on the circuit checked for integrity prior to
energising.
Ideal for use on lighting circuits to check switches and roses where
R1 + R2 is not possible, and on multi-light arrays (e.g. commercial
and retail premises) to ensure every fitting is earthed with minimal
disassembly.
The XTL50 are also useful for general fault finding on new
and in-use circuits where a loop break may be present or an open
circuit fault exists at some distance from the distribution board.
The small and light design is easy to carry and use. The outer frame
is convenient to hold, with the low-friction drum preventing over-run
for tangle-free extension, combined with a cable tensioning brush
for easy rewind
